New Jersey flooding: 2 women killed

Plainfield, New Jersey (WABC) – Two women who died when there were severe floods in Plainfield, New Jersey, overwhelmed streets on Monday evening.

The women were on the street in their car when it was swept into the Zedernbach during the height of the storm.

The police say, Lubia Estevez and Forest Whitlock, both in the 1960s, traveled along the Avenue, when they made a curve, landed in a ditch and were finally pulled into the quickly moving water under the bridge.

The Cedar Brook was built to catch the entire flood of the city, and the water builds up there.

A witness said he could hear one of the women screaming: “I don't want to die.”

A good Samaritan broke the victim's car window, but could not pull them out before they were pulled into the stream.
