One of the biggest surprises in the IPL 2025 auction came when the Mumbai Indians (Mi) decided to offer the young Kiwi Bevon-John Jacobs, who bought all six T20 games at the time the MI had bought. Jacobs was a beginner who had expected that he would not be sold, but Mi chose him because of his potential, impressed by what they had seen from him.

After the expected things, Jacobs did not play a single game in IPL 2025, but two months later the 23-year-old gave his T20I debut for New Zealand. Today he was given his cap in the second T20i of the ongoing tri series with New Zealand, Zimbabwe and South Africa, which made him the 105th cricket player to present the black caps in the shortest format.

And the right -hander had an impressive debut, which closed on 44 out of 30 balls and went in 70/5 when New Zealand was in all possible. He divided an undefeated 103-run stand with Tim Robinson to bring New Zealand to 173/5. Jacobs hit 3 six and four in his knock.

Jacobs gave his T20I debut on the back of an impressive T20 record under his belt: average 32, while he meets 148 and mostly struck in the medium order and in a lower order. However, it is one of the most evaluated battery in New Zealand in all formats that can be recognized by its first -class average of 59.50.

This was Jacobs' first professional match since March, in which he met 157 & 32* against central districts that Auckland represented. In January and February he represented Mi Emirates in the ILT20 and performed three appearances.
