The strikes came in the middle of the continuing tensions in the southwest of Syria, in which the minority of Druze is native and whose community is concerned with the border between Israel-occupied Golanhöhen and Syria. The Syrian military joined Bedouins militias in clashes against the Druze.

Israel met the Syrian military there on Monday and Tuesday to protect the Druze and keep the Syrian side of the border trainers.

On Wednesday, Syria Tom Barrack's US special representative said on Wednesday that the government sentenced violence to the city of Sweida in southern Syria and asked all parties to de-escalate and negotiate a ceasefire.
