No, you didn't break Reddit, but there is a good chance that you will see an error message that will be informed that you have done it right now. On Wednesday morning around 11:52 a.m. ET, Reddit started a widespread failure. The attempt to load a page on the website is leading visitors to a page on which you know that “Reddit breaks!” We still collect information, but here is what we know about why Reddit has sunk so far.

Why is Reddit down?

Shortly after 11:30 a.m. ET on July 16, reports on Reddit failures rose to Downdetektor. At the time of writing, there were over 72,000 individual reports, which indicates that almost everyone has problems accessing Reddit this morning. In other words, it's not just you. Something broken that causes problems for anyone who wants to visit Reddit.

In the meantime, the Reddit Status page was updated at 11:52 a.m. ET to note that the team began with the examination of increased location errors. From 12:07 p.m. ET, Reddit said that his employees “identified the cause of the problem and work to address them”.

Reddit had problems before

Failures like this are not particularly unusual at Reddit. If you look through the archive with recent incidents, you should expect a short interruption of about two to three times a month.
