Gasleck in Seattle Belltown Quarter causes evacuations

Seattle Fire Department (SFD) reacts to reports about a natural gas leak in downtown Seattle.

The gas leak takes place in the Belltown neighborhood near the intersection of the Third Avenue and the Wall Street.

SFD firefighters on site evacuate the affected buildings. SFD asks people to avoid the area.

“The Battery Street between the 2. Ave. and 4th Ave. is now and 3rd Ave. blocked between Bell Street and Wall Street,” said the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT). “Use alternative routes.”

Seattle Fire reported that PUGET Sound Energy (PSE) secured the natural gas for the building and monitored the air quality inside.
