The nurse is faced with the child's death after the child's death

A licensed practical nurse on Tuesday was charged with neglect/child abuse that caused serious bodily harm after the Roanoke Rapids police began to examine the death of a 2-year-old child that needed home health services.

Lieutenant Morgan Worrell said that abuse that causes serious bodily harm did not reflect that the child had suffered physical injuries from blows, shaking or blunt strength trauma, but that the nurse, the Katrina Mallory Alston (52), was negligent in the child's care with an existing illness.

The child was taken to the hospital in March for unknown causes, said Worrell and succumbed.

According to the North Carolina Board of Nursing, Mallory received a permanent license on September 9, 2008. The license should expire on August 31st next year. According to the board of directors, she had not taken any charges or disciplinary measures against her.

In an explanation, Worrell said that investigations were established the likelihood of the strain on Alston by Roanoke Rapids.

Alston achieved a 5,000 US dollar background and is planned on July 24 for a appearance by the district court.

“The department offers the family of this child the deepest condolences,” said the police.
