East Rockaway Oil Leck Cleaning in Mill River

East Rockaway Oil Leck Cleaning in Mill River

The adjustment of around 1,000 gallon cooling oil, which has been assigned from a electricity transmission line to the Mill River in East Rockaway, continued on Wednesday, the officials said.

On Monday, Pseg Long Island concluded an underground electrical cable from the company, since “the spokeswoman for non -toxic dielectricity of dielectric liquid”, Elizabeth Flagler, said in an explanation.

“We actively worked together in cooperation with the US Coast Guard and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to remedy the non -toxic fluid, and it is worked to isolate and repair the leak,” said Flagler in her explanation.

The cable runs under the Mill River Bridge along the Atlantic Avenue and delivers the electricity for Western Nassau County, she said. Customers would not have lost any power supply when the cable was switched off, she said.

Michael Uttaro, Chief Fire Marshal Michael Uttaro, said in an interview on Wednesday that his office received a call for a gloss on the water from an oil spill around 5.45 p.m. on Monday.

“When our Hazmat team arrived, they watched it and observed that it came from the PSEG transmission line,” said Uttaro.

He said the oil is similar to vegetable oil and is used to cool away gear lines. “It was estimated that up to 1,000 gallons had come from this transmission line,” said Uttaro.

He said that PSEG was already on site when the firefighter team arrived.

“Pseg happened to be in the area and was looking for the leak,” said Uttaro. “You have commissioned a private contractor you have to do and you have your own burial reaction.”

Uttaro said the New York State Dept. of Environmental Conservation as the main agency took over the clean -up work.

DEC did not immediately answer inquiries about comments on Wednesday.
