Historical Athens and Texas: Crime Reports – 1936 – a different perspective | Opinion

We often think that the “good old days” were better than modern times and an example could be if we think about crime rates from the past, we say in Athens. Was there really fewer crimes back then? Let's take a look at some examples from 1936.

And while we are doing this, we should look at some stories from the winter of 1936 – and although we may never really be able to solve the question of crime back then and crime today, we can at least receive some new perspectives in the types of crime and other topics. The first three stories come from the edition of The Athens Weekly Review on January 9, 1936.
