James Spann starts the new Weather Network 24/7 Alabama

If you believe that James Spens is already an ubiquitous meteorological presence, especially in the case of dangerous storms, simply touch this dial.

The popular, award-winning Birmingham meteorologist starts his own channel on August 11th: Alabama Weather Network. It will be available around the clock for numerous streaming services (i.e. Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire), on social media (YouTube, Facebook, X, Instagram, Tiktok) and the Alabama Weather Network app and website.

“It has been a dream of mine for a long time,” says Spann, who will keep his position as chief meteorologist for ABC 33/40 while performing in the new network.

“When I started, they had television boundaries,” said Spann. “They had markets – they were in Tuscaloosa, Birmingham and Anniston, and it is. Nobody else could see them. With digital and social media, all of this has changed; the limits have disappeared. Now everyone in our business can decide where the boundaries begin for them and where they stop.

The network, the production studios of which is based in Birmingham, will broadcast programs for events, activities and locations for nationwide visitors. Country -wide forecasts are broadcast every 20 minutes and updated several times a day. There will also be targeted forecasts that, for example, target beaches, lawn care and gardening.

“There is a hunger for reasonable good weather reporting, and many of our rural parts of the state do not have that. This will fill some holes,” said Spann. “We will have the resources to do it right, resources that I didn't have. So it's an absolute dream that comes true for me.”

Shows emphasize the willingness to have a plan far from inevitable storms both in the days and sometimes weeks before a storm, but also the long -term willingness on topics such as the protection of your house and the plan.

“Some people are new here and this weather can be frightening,” says Spann. “They come here from Portland or Boston and suddenly Tornados fly around. We have to take care of those who have lived here forever, and people who are new here. We can also give them short-term warnings so that they know when it is time to get a safe place to get the polygon and all of this.”

Last week, in the times of the tragic and fatal flood of the Guadalupe river in central texas, in which at least 130 people were killed, Spann called for “empathy and friendliness” in the name of the families of victims. He received “evil messages and verbal threats” in response to comments on the effects of cloud seeds on the flood.

Tensioner is one of four owners of Alabama Weather Network. The others are the hotel industry, Bill Murray, who works together with excited in Alabama Weather Blog, the former meteorologist John Oldshue and the business and personal financial expert Bill Hardkoopf, who was President and General Manager of the Birmingham Barons, from 1992 to 1998.

“James is a trustworthy voice and a community cheeky leader,” says Murray. “Now he will be a nationwide cheerleader. He has so much emotional justice with the people in Alabama. It is important to them what he says. He will appear for things like UAB football, the world police and fire games and other important events in the whole state.”

Tensioner says: “We live in a place where you can deal with occasional events that can threaten your life. The persecution of Tornados in the Birmingham region is something for which I am known, but you also have hurricanes in the coast of Alabama and winter storms in North Alabama, including some Böser ice storms, have severe Thundstorme, with the climb with a bunch They came across half.

“There is a Weather apps from Gazillion, a Youtubers and TikToker from Gazillion, but the people need a source that they can trust. I would like to think that I was here long enough where I understand them and I am always there for them.”

And will now be there around the clock.
