The upcoming exhibition in Brooklyn Museum shows 'Artists in Rebellion'

Prospect Heights – A new exhibition that will open this autumn in the Brooklyn Museum will highlight the work of “artists who react to their current moment with quiet rebellious intentions”. “Everyday Rebellions: Collection Conversations”, which will be opened on October 10, is inspired by Gloria Steinem's best -selling autobiographical essay collection from 1983, “Emploctous acts and everyday rebellions”. The exhibition shows how artists use side by side, scales and unexpected materials to spark the dialogue over their place in the world.

The works presented include Beverly Semmes' “Chorus”, a dynamic installation of oversized red velvet dresses; Sarah Sze's “cave painting”, a complex landscape with mixed media; And Judith Shea's texture “Noah's couple”. Catherine Morris, the curatorial chair of the museum and sacker Senior Curator, and Carla Forbes, curatorial assistant to the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art, organize this show.

The Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art is housed by “Everyday Rebellions: Collection Conversations”, the first collection show in this specific gallery since 2021. “Everyday Rebellions” will combine newly acquired works from the various participations of the museum.
