Bill shows to make the attack on first aiders a federal crime

Washington – The US senators Jim Risch and Mike Crapo from Idaho, together with Eric Schmitt from Missouri, introduced the Graham Hoffman Act, a draft law that is intended to attack first aid.

“The evil attack of the last month on first aiders in North Idaho is a strong memory of the dangers that our brave men and women in the uniform face every day,” said Risch. “The Graham Hoffman Act is healthy right to punish those who properly attack the men and women who protect our communities. Vicki and I continue to pray for the victims of the contestation of North Idaho, their members and all the noted.”

Crapo emphasized the recent tragedy in Coeur d'Aleene, Idaho, where firefighters John Morrison and Frank Harwood were killed, and David Tysdal was seriously injured during a deliberate admission. “Their loss drives us to strengthen the law and prevent further violence to ensure that justice is fully fulfilled for a person who attacks our law enforcement authorities or first aiders,” said Crapo.

Schmitt emphasized the need for legislation, which was named in honor of Graham Hoffman, a firefighter paramedic from Kansas City, Missouri, who was killed by a well-known criminal. “This tragic loss underlines the urgent need to protect our first aiders who bring their lives to play on the game. In honor of Graham, this legislation ensures that everyone who attacks or kills a first aid is exposed to the full power of the Federal Law,” said Schmitt.

The bill is also supported by the senators Josh Hawley, Ashley Moody, Ted Cruz, Bill Hagerty and Maggie Hassan.
