Solid fire destroys Tomorrowland Music Festival Main on stage days before the opening

A massive fire damaged the main stage in Belgium's Tomorrowland, one of the largest electronic dance music festivals, just a few days before its planned opening.

The fire broke out on Wednesday on the festival site in Boom, Belgium, where thick black clouds of smoke got into the air. Video recordings on social media showed large flames that devour the main stage together with what sounded like fireworks.

The cause of the fire is unknown. According to the festival organizers, no injuries were reported in the incident.

“Due to a serious incident and a serious fire, our beloved main stage was badly damaged,” said Tomorrowland officials on Instagram. They added that the festival's campsite, Dreamville, is still open on Thursday, July 17th.

The festival, which attracts tens of thousands of music fans every year, is to run from Friday, July 18th to Sunday, July 20th. The main actors are the top DJs David Guetta, Charlotte de Witte and Martin Garrix.

The organizers of the festival say that they “concentrate on finding solutions for the festival weekend” and soon provide further updates. All activities in front of the festival in Brussels and Antwerp will run as planned.
