Corpus Christi City Council debate termination of the OVG360 contract

Corpus Christi City Council debate termination of the OVG360 contract

“The contract of such a contract could extend very well into the millions” | Prosecutor Miles Risley warns precautionary measures against costly decision

Corpus Christi, Texas frustration is overwhelmed on Tuesday at the regularly planned Corpus Christi City City meeting when the leader spoke out the growing controversy around the OVG360 CEO – the company that the American Bank Center manages.

The CEO recently resigned after being charged by the US Ministry of Justice. This development has questioned some council members whether the city should do the relationship with the company as a whole.

But this, since the officials warned, could achieve steep costs.

“The contract of such a contract could extend very well into the millions,” said City Miles Risley's lawyer.

Risley also found that a decision to terminate the agreement would require long -term planning.

“In order to take the termination into account, we would have to carry out these plans for such dismissals – we probably want to plan at least one year in advance,” he added.

Carolyn Vaughn, City Councilor of AT-LARGE, said she has already heard from the residents concerned about the integrity of the contract process.

“People say:” Do you have it? Do you have it? “That is the question that is asked,” she said.

Kaylynn Paxson, City Councilor of District 4, said that the time of the allegations is worrying – especially since the council discussed whether he should recently enter into the partnership.

“It is difficult for us – so many allegations a year as to why you enter into a partnership with someone or not. This comes to light within a few weeks,” said Paxton.

Eric Cantu, City Councilor of District 3, made up additional concerns – not just about credibility, but about how the business activity of OVG360 can affect local companies.

“You have triggered many small providers. You don't work with other sponsors in Corpus Christi or in the surrounding area,” he said.

OVG360 was not present at the meeting on Tuesday, but is expected to appear in front of city leaders at some point in August. In the meantime, Risley said that the city would continue to monitor updates from the Ministry of Justice.
