The Fears Street is used as a “free party” for Brighton Pride

The Fears Street is used as a “free party” for Brighton Pride

The resident Richard Healey said that people were not calmed down by the plans.

Mr. Healey said: “We are concerned about traffic and security for pedestrians, but also the security for residents with the sheer number of people who come as a free party in St. James's Street and surrounding areas.”

Around 300,000 people came to the city to celebrate Pride celebrations last year.

This year people are not allowed to gather outside along the St. James's Street, there will be no outside of bars or music, and the street is managed by the city council, the Sussex police and the pride over the weekend.

There will also be security as a “soft barrier” to prevent people from going down the street between St. James's Street and the official party, unless they are residents.

A resident said: “It will be worse if you just move a road away. I think it will be very chaotic.”

Karen Byrne-Roberts, who lives near St. James's Street, said it was important that the event had been continued, but it kept the feeling that it was “outgrading this special landscape”.

The Street Party on Marine Parade, which has already sold 20,000 tickets, includes Drag -Day, bars that are managed by local event locations and music zones.

Ms. Miller told BBC Radio Sussex that the Council used a national organizer of mass events to review his plan for the Pride Street Party.

She added: “Where it was challenged, changes were made.

“We are very confident that we have a really good plan. If at all, the street could be safer than on an ordinary Friday or Saturday evening.”
