Doubtful sales tactics at two leading real estate agencies that have been uncovered by BBC examinations

Real estate agents are supposed to work in the best interest of their customers, but we have noticed how pressure on profit -oriented decisions at Connells in Abingdon.

On a Saturday, our reporter was asked to organize an open house tour for July's house with three bedrooms, which was on the market for offers over £ 300,000. It sparked great interest. Fifteen people were present and others also wanted to book separate tours.

The following Monday, the Senior Branch Manager seemed to be interested in two possible buyers – those who spoke to Connell's internal brokers. The next day she said about WhatsApp to her employees that she should not arrange any further observations on Julies's house.

One has registered a mortgage mediated by Connells. The senior industry manager called people who had agreed to create mortgages and other services by the company, hot buyers.

A board of directors in the office entitled “Hot Buyers” had the names of house hunters in the branch, which had agreed to take out a mortgage or a funding package via Connells.

The hot buyer of Julie's house made a first offer that she rejected, but finally increased it to successfully secure the property.

There was another potential buyer who was interested in the house to have the apparently deeper bags – a money buyer. She did not take a mortgage out of the company.

Connells told us that on Monday after the open day they spoke to the buyer of the money buyer and that they were undecided to specify an offer. A call from the money buyer later on the same day was missed, said the company and not tracked.

When the undercover reporter told the office manager of the buyer of cash, whom she would have offered more later, the reporter was informed that “only a sale” for Connells was “not good enough”.

“You will probably be aimed at getting someone who has registered with us and would like to use our promotion, in contrast to someone who is a bart buyer,” said the administrator. “This is how Connells are just. So she drives her if you don't have enough mortgage appointments.”
