An exciting golf season of 2025 has reached its last major, with the Open Championship playing its 153rd games in Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland this week. The oldest golf tournament in the world returns to Portrush for the first time in six years, with the Claret Krug being awarded for the third time on Sunday.

While Xander Schauffele comes up as the reigning master golfer of the year, all eyes are directed on Rory McIlroy, favorite in the hometown, the number 2 golfer in the world. After winning three tournaments this season -including the savings of his first champions to complete the career Grand Slam -McIlroy was the clear favorite that enters Royal Portrush. Instead, McIlroy is second after a short fighting strip behind Scottie Scheffler in the Odd's boards.

Mcilroy's enormous game last week at The Scottish Open may have served the perfect mood for the Ulsterman, who hopes to start the hot Thursday and to ask the concerns of concerns He can throw out early as in 2019The last time the opens were played on the banks of his home country. The winner this year was Mcilroy's best friend on the PGA Tour, Irishman Shane Lowry. He also had an up-and-gymnastics year, but always seems to be alive when it is placed in Great Britain again for a tournament.

Jon Rahm appears as the third overall favorite behind Scheffler and McIlroy. While he doesn't have to win at LIV Golf, Rahm found his game after a 2024 to forget it. He seems ready to claim the circle of a winner and add another pen into his hat with a clear jug on his coat.
