Mets Leak Francisco Lindor Captain Captain before David Wright number retirement

Mets Leak Francisco Lindor Captain Captain before David Wright number retirement

David Wright will have his day in the sun on Saturday. The New York Mets will be two, withdraw its No. 5 and Wright invest in the team's Hall of Fame before taking over against the Cincinnati Reds.

Wright is the outstanding Mets star of a generation and one of the best players who call Queens at home. He was Captain America for the team USA and in 2013 he became New York's fourth captain and joined Keith Hernandez, Gary Carter and John Franco.

Wright is celebrated not only for his achievements on Saturday, but also for his character. His combination of talent and leadership is rare, perhaps incomparable in the eyes of Mets fans. But in the years since Wright, Shortstop Francisco Lindor has developed as an icon that fascinates the flushing believers, overcome the adversities and have become the heart and soul of a championship scandal.

Francisco Lindor is on deck

No player played such a central role in New York Turnaround as Lindor. The runner-up 2024 NL MVP heated up a Miracle night season run and reached two of the most important Homer of the season to send the meters into the playoffs, and another to give the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS.

Since his arrival in 2021, Lindor has been bought to the lover. He has become the obvious candidate for New York's next captain.

This news could come earlier than expected.

On Wednesday, MLB published a video entitled “Captains of the New York Mets” on his website before he took it quickly. In the tiny clip, Wright discussed what it meant to be captain of the Mets, and contained clips from Hernandez, Carter and Franco in front of him.

Halfway, the focus shifts to Lindor and shows its greatest moments in New York.

“When Carlos Mendoza and the organization want to drop him on him,” said Ron Darling. “It makes sense.”

The Mets made their decision. Regardless of whether the news on Thursday during the premiere of Sny's “The Wright Way” or officially falls on Saturday, when No. 5 has retired forever, Lindor will soon receive this honor.

Simply put, this is his team. And when Lindor has his press conference 12 years after Wright, the permanent feeling will be that not much will change. Lindor has been the captain of the Mets for years. It will be official soon.
