Wind whips power failure for thousands in Okanagan


More than 2,000 inhabitants of Vernon and Lake Country are without electricity after an evil storm on Wednesday evening.

BC Hydro Reports Power is eliminated for 2,111 customers in the region.

The cause is examined and a crew was assigned.

There are another 1,247 inhabitants between Keddleston and the Mountain Resort near Silver Star Mountain.

North of Lumby are 333 customers without electricity southeast of the Lumby Mabel Lake Road.

In Cherryville, a tree has left 832 inhabitants in the dark east of the Lumby Mabel Lake Road.

In Armstrong, a smaller failure is caused by a tree over the wires south of the McLeod Road, east of the Highway 97a and north of the Powerhouse Road, 55 customers.

Another 64 residents of Armstrong are located in the dark north of Marshall Road and west of the Stepney Road. There are still a few Osages east of the Hullcar area.

There are a few small spot failures in the area area.

The remaining residents with electricity can notice flickering of lights when the storm is continued.
