Two accused men and almost 1.5 tons of cannabis recovered

Two men were charged with a series of drug offenses and almost 1.5 tons of cannabis as part of an investigation by the national crime agency.

The cannabis, which has a wholesale of around 5.5 million GBP, was discovered on Tuesday after raids were carried out with the support of the Warwickshire police.

The transport was discovered in two locations: around 900 kg in a garage in a property in Tanworth in Arden, Solihull and about 500 kg in a plot in Shenstone in Staffordshire.

NCA investigators took the arrests as part of an investigation of a crime group that smuggled methamphetamine from Great Britain to Australia and imported cocaine to Great Britain.

Last night, both Peter Stride (44) and Aaron Asbury (37) were charged with conspiracy for the delivery of cannabis.

Stride of Vicarage Hill, Tamworth in Arden, Solihull, was also accused of exporting class A medication and importing for class A drugs.

Asbury from the Sycamore Road, Drakelow, Burton via Trent, was also accused of importing class A drugs.

The men will appear at the Coventry Magistrates' Court today (July 17).

A third man who was arrested yesterday on a property in Wombourne, Staffordshire, was examined.
