Otis McKane to appear in court on Thursday

Bexar County, Texas – A man who was sentenced to death in the murder of a police detective in San Antonio in 2016 hopes for an appointment if he returns to court on Thursday morning.

Otis McKane was accused of shooting and killing SAPD. Benjamin Marconi in front of the headquarters of public security in the department on November 20, 2016 at around 11:30 a.m.

In the moments in front of the shootout, Marconi sat a ticket in his patrol car. A vehicle drove behind him.

The driver, who was later identified as McKane, went to Marconi's window and shot him in his head twice.

On July 26, 2021, a jury of the Bexar McKane district found guilty. Momats later after judge Ron Rangel released the jury, McKane stood up and put a bailiff in the jaw in front of a KSAT 12 news camera.

During the hearing on Thursday, McKane will again be released before judge Rangel on 379.
