According to reports, the FEDS will report the plan to reopen Alcatraz – NBC Bay Area

According to reports, two big names of the Trump administration come to the Bay Area on Thursday to officially start the efforts to turn Alcatraz back into a federal prison.

The Congressmen's office Nancy Pelosi said it was recommended with the Attorney General Pam Bondi, and the Interior Minister Doug Burgum would visit Alcatraz before announcing details on reopening.

The White House did not confirm the visit, but President Trump first threw this idea up in May.

The reopening “The Rock” would not be cheap. Experts estimate that it could cost billions of dollars to bring the aging system to the code.

The government switched it in 1963 because it cost too much to keep it running.

The mayor of San Francisco, Daniel Lurie, did not dye any words when she was asked about the idea. “There is no realistic plan to open Alcatraz again as something other than a wonderful attraction that is currently.”
