Watch: Phil Mickelson saves par after you have left one in the bunker

Phil Mickelson did not make a Bogey about his first nine holes at The Open on Thursday, supported by a triggered par-rescue on the third.

The Open Champion 2013 hit his tee into a Greenside bunker on the 167-yard hole in Par 3. After leaving his second shot there, he attracted his third.

That was part of a Bogey Free, Front-Nine 34 in Royal Portrush, including birdies on the Par-5 Second and Par-5. The 55-year-old was bound for the early lead with 2 underders when he made the curve.

Mickelson missed the cut in five of his last seven open starts since his second place to Henrik Stenson in the Royal Troon in 2016. Mickelson's Open Triumph came in Muirfield 12 years ago.
