Netflix 'new mystery thriller series is one of the best binge watches from 2025- and you can now stream you

I hadn't expected that I would grab myself as it did. At first glance, Netflix's new Wilderness Set mystery thriller looked like her standard slow-burn series with slow-burn-six episode: brood lead, landscape drone shots and just enough murder to justify the “Thriller” label.

And sure, it all has. But it also has something that I didn't see what is actually Swing.

The series brings Eric Bana to the leading role as Kyle Turner, a National Park Agent, who called Yosemite after a woman was found dead. At first it seems to be a tragic climbing accident. But Turner, who has exactly the right amount of luggage and stares at all streaming detective, is not so sure.

What follows is basically a classic thriller, only with fewer streets of the city and more moss -covered rocks. On the way he is combined with a rookie ranger, meets old colleagues and can be found in situations in which they are not sure whether the greatest threat is a person or a bear.

And yet I was thrilled. “Unroigned” encompasses his identity as a solid, serious show with a reference to self -meaning and this is confident. So if the idea of a murder examination in a national park sounds interesting for you, you should stay with it for the whole.

Here is the reason why “untamed” deserves a place on your Netflix observation list because it streams, even if it is only for the landscape.

“Unamered” follows the Special Agent Kyle Turner (Eric Bana), an experienced investigator of the Elite Investigative Services Branch of the National Park Service. If the body of a young woman is discovered at the foot of El Capitan in the Yosemite National Park, the initial assumption is a climbing accident. But Turner suspects something more scary.

Turner works with the Rookie Ranger Naya Vasquez (Lily Santiago) and begins to disguise a trace of inconsistencies that indicate a bad game. While the couple deep grabs, their investigation leads them into the huge, treacherous hinterland of the park, in which indications are scarce and dangers are a lot.

Turner will soon be forced to connect with Paul Souter (Sam Neill) again, an old friend and Yosemite's long-time chief Ranger, as well as with his ex-wife Jill Bodwin (Rosemarie Dewitt), a consultant who works in the park. Turner is at the center of a far -reaching secret.

“Unknown” is an exciting descent into the dark heart of the wilderness

“Unknown” begins, like most Mystery thrillers with the crime itself. Two climbers who scale a mountain are almost sent to death when a woman fell mysterious way from a rocky lead, dies and tangled up in her climbing ropes. It is pretty brutal from the start, but there is the tone for the rest of the series.

From there we are introduced to the brooding Kyle Turner, who is played by Eric Bana Brillant, who knows how to play the shameful archetype without becoming another Joel from “The Last of Us” or Rick by “The Walking Dead”. Instead, he tries to do his job without an external mix while suppressing his personal luggage, which inevitably reappears in every episode.

Fortunately, the show does not pull out the examination. In the first episode, Kyle is already looking for the area for references, and we follow him as he discovered blood stains on leaves and a bullet hole in a tree. Although it is based on some genre tropics, it is still convincing enough to continue looking.

Another trope that I was not initially Tension was the classic “hardened investigator paired with a rookie” setup. You know when the rookie questioned everything, is too sensitive and questions the authority of the main character by being impulsive.

Fortunately, “Fleet” steps out of this cliché when the episodes go on, and makes Vasquez, the rookie, a really personable character with a meaningful background story. It has a dark past, and as soon as this is connected to the main story, it naturally feels.

As for the other supporting characters, they usually earn their screen time. Banas Kyle Turner is really the only one you can concentrate on or with whom you can connect, especially since his past is equipped with his ex-wife and colleagues.

Sam Neill's Paul -Souter doesn't have as much to see as I would like to have an interesting dynamic with gymnast than old allies. This means that the secret is so convincing that I invest less in the characters and immerse themselves more in the plot and wished more twists and revelations instead of character moments.

In addition to the puzzle, “Fleet” provides some serious pictures that show how big and overwhelming the Yosemite National Park really is and it is somehow fearsome.

For the context, Yosemite sees a high number of search and rescue operations (SAR), with over 730 incidents being reported between 2018 and 2020. That feels much more credible in terms of its central secret. And that is before they even take into account the bears …

Overall, however, “untamed” is the type of Bingabler series that you could easily end in one night. The characters are not particularly deep (apart from gymnasts who get a solid development), so they are probably the most invested in the examination itself.

Just a head -up: As soon as you play on episode 1, don't be surprised if you do the whole thing.

If you pursue a mystery that does not depend on gimmicks or exaggerated twists, the rare Netflix thriller that feels real is “untamed”, and that is exactly what makes it work. It is not exactly original material, but it still leans against what the genre can do best: a solid examination, tension and a lead performance that holds everything together.

The attitude alone is worth setting, but it is the slow tension and clever deciphering of information that makes you press the next episode. With only six episodes there is no filler that can be said more than for many youngest limited series.
