(Lawrenceburg, in) – Genesis: Paths to success was continued with the skateboard camp in the Lawrenceburger Skatepark in collaboration with Blacklist Boardshop, a summer of stream (science, technology, reading, engineering, art and mathematics).

Over three days, 10 students learned how to put together and drive skateboards.

Day 1 of the skateboard camp started with a historical background of skateboards and learned the difference between the art of skateboarding and sport. The students learned how important the physical advantages of skateboarding are and how it can teach them proper lessons in life. Blacklist Boardshop handed over all different parts of a skateboard and discussed the use of everyone and how they have developed over time. The students paint and decorate their own decorations with color, stickers and handles.

Day 2 continued with a review of the different parts of a skateboard and how the skateboard is assembled. The students then built their skateboard as a blacklist board shop instructors when changing small details to ensure that their skateboard was safe to ride. The students learned the right way to drive safely with helmets and pads. They started interruption sessions to determine the attitude and level of ability. The students spent the rest of the second day in stations that apply from assembly wheels, trucks and handle tape.

“My favorite part of the camp was the chance to skate. I liked to meet people my age who also love skating.” Elijah Davidson, arriving 5th grade at the North Dearborn primary school.

The last day of the skateboard camp was just about riding. The students continued to turn in stations for the morning part. The afternoon consisted of free riding and collecting delicacies such as certificates and goody bags.

“This camp is great because it is difficult for children of this age to access skateboarding. This combines them with other children and older, who share a similar passion for skating. I loved to see their progress throughout. Both the beginners and more advanced drivers have learned how to express themselves through their skating style while adding to their repertoire of tricks.” Joe Hughes, owner of Blacklist Boardshop.

Genesis: The paths to success thank Blacklist Boardshop for volunteering and sharing your knowledge of skateboarding and your talent to camper. We would also like to thank Lawrenceburg Skate Park for making campers available for a safe and open room for the camp.
