Leicester City appointed the former head coach of Queens Park Rangers, Marti Cifuentes, as a manager for a three -year contract.

The 43-year-old Spaniard replaces Ruud van Nistelrooy on the helmet of the foxes with less than a month until the season begins.

Cifuentes takes over a Leicester team that was in the championship for the second time in three years after he had immediately relegated from the Premier League after he rose as a second-class title winner under Enzo Maresca in 2024.

Cifuentes now competes Maresca, who left Leicester after the promotion to take over the job at Chelsea, as one of the six permanent managers who had the foxes in a little more than two years.

Just as the Italian returns the East Midlands Club to the top of the top escape during his tenure, Cifuentes also expects promotion.

During his time at QPR, the Spaniard, for whom the Foxes Rangers pay a non -mentioned compensation fee, the 18th and 15th placement supervised.

Leicester says that the Spaniard will bring the club “a modern, progressive football philosophy”, while the chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha says that Cifuentes is “an excellent fit”.

“We were firmly convinced that it would help us to create him in the coming years to bring him to the club,” added Srivaddhanaprabha.

Cifuentes took over the management of QPR when they were the second from Bottom in the championship in October 2023, and he was asked for the first time at the Loftus Road.

His most recent campaign ended with him on a garden vacation after the tires were defeated 5-0 by Burnley in April.
