Colorado Springs Utilities forwards plans for new reservoir | Local news

The Colorado Springs supplier has promoted a plan for the city council, which will facilitate the management and development of a new reservoir in Boone, a city in the Pueblo district.

The proposed reservoir would meet the need for Colorado Springs supply companies in order to stabilize water storage through waterways that are protected from the exchange to maintain the river through the city of Pueblo.

“It is an essential part of the Colorado Spring system to move water from Fountain Creek,” said Scott Lorenz, Senior Project Manager at Colorado Springs Utilities at a session of the Utilities board on Wednesday.

Care company is a main partner in the intergovernmental agreement from 2006, together with the city of Aurora, the Board of Water Works of Pueblo and three smaller members. The partners agreed to examine the possibility of storing water instead of pressing the water requirement.

According to Lorenz, there was “buzzing” about the possibility of a reservoir 20 years ago, but there were no plans. Things began to move in 2021 when the IGA partner Land near Boone identified and bought for a 5,000 hectare warehouse reservoir.

The plans for the 30 million doir -Reservoir are still a decade, but the board decided on Wednesday to lead a proposal to the Colorado Springs city council in order to found a water authority from the IGA partners -an organization that has a greater ability to make decisions about the administration of the country before and after the infestation.

Each member would continue to keep proportional voting rights for their buy-in for the project, but the water authority would maintain its own debts. Lorenz said.

“The tail cannot turn the dog,” he said.

The Board of Directors unanimously recommended the plan of the city council, which should vote on the declaration of consent at its public meeting on August 12th.
