Center for barrier -free life proudly emphasizes disability in Bowling Green

Bowling Green, Ky. (WBKO) -Juli marks disability Pride Month, a nationwide compliance that honors the success, visibility and the rights of people who live with disabilities.

In Bowling Green, the Center for Accessible Life uses this month to raise awareness of the services and the importance of inclusion in everyday life.

The non -profit organization, which serves in South Central Kentucky, offers support that range from housing support and employment guidelines to the attorney's attorney. His mission is based on empowering people with disabilities, living independently, not only by offering resources, but also by meeting people where they are on their trip.

Lindsey, a local organizer of the center, said that the month of the disabled pride is more than just recognized.

“I hope people take away how far we have come to have diversity, justice, inclusion and real accommodations,” she said. “Take a look at anyone with pity. Look at him with respect, like: 'Wow, this person blooms in your everyday life.'”

The center of the center includes people with disabilities and bring experience first -hand to work. This lived experience helps the team to connect more effectively with customers and not only offer information, but also a real understanding.

The month of the disabled person also marks the anniversary of the law on Americans with disabilities, which was passed in 1990. Legislation was a pioneering moment for rights of disability in the United States, and their effects continue to influence the efforts to access accessibility and equality.

According to the centers for the control and prevention of diseases (CDC), about 1 out of 4 adults lives in Kentucky with a disability. According to lawyers, early access to resources such as the results offered in the center for accessible lives can dramatically improve the results for individuals and families.

The organization continues to use this month to celebrate progress, to make visibility and to raise the public.

“The month of disability is a memory of the fact that people with disabilities not only survive, but also lead, build and make the communities,” said Lindsey.
