CMPD: Violent crime in Charlotte has dropped by 25%

Charlotte, NC-Die police from Charlotte-Mecklenburg says that the overall crime in Queen City is in a decline. CMPD has just announced that the overall crime has dropped by eight percent compared to the first two quarters of 2024. They say that violent crime has taken the greatest fall and has dropped by 25 percent. This includes things like murders, robberies, shootings and sexual attacks.

CMPD tells the WCCB Charlotte that it is the result of teamwork. Lt. Crystal Fletcher says: “This progress in public security is powered by the daily efforts of our civil servants, data -controlled resource provision, innovative strategies and strong ongoing partnerships with the community.”

There are still some work to be done: burglaries have increased by seven percent and theft of cars have also increased by three percent.
