Rochester woman who was sentenced to prisons for hiding for death – Finger Lakes Daily News

A woman in Rochester was convicted of one year in the federal prison after he had guilty to illegally contribute the state benefits after the death of another person.

The US lawyer Michael Digiacomo announced that 63-year-old Wendy Stone was convicted of 12 months in prison by the US district judge Frank P. Geraci Jr. for conversion and illegal transmission of government benefit.

According to the public prosecutor, Stone discovered the body of an additional recipient for security income (SSI), which was referred to as “Victim 1” at the end of December 2022, but did not report death. Instead, she used the deceased person's debit card to access SSI services that were continued to be launched in the account.

In order to further hide death and further collect the means, Stone activated a new debit card with the social security number of victim 1 and moved the body to the basement of the Rochester residence in which death took place. The authorities said that she had wrapped the body in plastic, placed it in a recycling container and regularly poured bleach on it to mask the smell. The body remained undetected in the basement from December 2022 to September 2023.

During this time, Stone illegally collected $ 7,902 of SSI services and recertified falsely the SNAP services, with the deceased still lived with her. As a result, she received additional 1,072 US dollars of Snap Fund that she was not entitled to.

The case was pursued by the deputy US lawyer Nicholas M. Testani.
