“Carried through” Walker assisted after falling into the stream

A hiker who was “soaked” near Penrith after falling into a stream was supported by a mountain rescue team.

The Penrith Mountain Rescue Team (MRI) was deployed on Wednesday, July 16, after he had received a call from the Cumbria police via a hiker who had fallen into a stream near Engine Beacon.

The walker had become “very cold” due to the incident and could not continue.

While Penrith MRI reacted to the call, the original group, which had found that the Walker provided them with replacement -dry clothing, and after they had time, they could go from the hill.

Penrith MRI wrote on the social media: “The Cumbria police contacted the team after some hikers came across a fellow hiker who had fallen into a current crossing and was now very cold on the skin and could not continue alone.

“When the team reacted, the group, who found that the Walker found enough replacement clothing between them – together with dry waterproof – to transform the victim into dry clothes and warm up enough to make the hill down.

“The team members met the group halfway, all in a good mood at this time.

“The victim continued with the team, and the group that had helped was able to continue their walk. After asked back in their car and a team doctor, the victim was happy to go home.

“We would like to thank the viewers to do great work and that they will stay in touch everywhere.

“The rescue included 12 team members from Penrith MRI and lasted three hours and five minutes.”
