Baltimore – Update: (WBAL) – The department for independent investigations by the General Prosecutor identified the man, who died in police custody at the end of June, and the police authorities involved in Baltimore.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on Thursday, the IID Dontae Melton Jr., 31, identified as the person who died in police custody on June 24th.

Around 9:40 p.m. on June 24th, at the intersection of West Franklin Street and North Franklintown Road, a man who was now identified as Melton Jr. and who apparently suffered from a psychological crisis, an officer of a police cruiser who was stopped at a traffic light said.

The official tried to hold the man back for his own security, 11 messages previously reported. After putting Melton, Jr. in handcuffs and leg restrictions, he no longer reacted.

The officers involved have between one and 17 years of service: Sergeant Joshua Jackson, officer Andre Smith, officer Gerard Pettiford, Jr., Officer Jacob Dahl, officer, officer Cardenas-Huarcaya, officer Renardo Spencer, officer Jammal Parker, officer Darren Hicks, Jr. and Officer Ryan. All officers are assigned to the BPD Operations Bureau.

Around 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of West Franklin Street and the North Franklintown Road, a man who apparently suffered from a psychological crisis turned to an officer of a police cruiser who was stopped at a traffic light.

The man went into the middle of the street several times when the officer tried to speak to the man how the press release shows.

According to the press release, the official tried to hold the man back for his own security. Finally, other officers arrived and helped move the man in handcuffs and leg restrictions.

Officials then demanded medical help. While he was waiting for medical help, the man was no longer reacted, officials said.

The officers drove the man to the hospital with a police cruiser after EMS had not reached the scene until 10:30 p.m., officers said.

Shortly after 3 a.m., the man was declared dead, said officials.

Officers had cameras worn with body, the press release says.

A spokesman for the Baltimore police announced 11 news that BPD knows the incident and examined them together with the office of the Attorney General.
