Johannes M., a 40-year-old palliative doctor who was popular because of his humor and commitment, was brought to trial in Berlin last Monday because he allegedly murdered 15 of his patients.

Colleagues and family families admired his patience, professionalism and willingness to help without knowing that he could be one Germany'S notorious series killer. The public prosecutor examines 96 additional cases, including the suspicious death of his wife's mother, which indicates that the true tribute can be far higher.

Twelve years ago, Johannes M. wrote his dissertation about “Why do people kill?” The assertion of a psychiatrist that killing is part of the spectrum of human behavior. In retrospect, his work made his actions extremely shadowed.

He was arrested in August 2024 and is suspected of having killed his mother -in -law, a cancer patient, during a weekend visit to Poland in early 2024. Within 10 minutes after the visit of John M., the patient was dead. Similar to Niels Högel, a German nurse who was convicted of killing 87 patients in 2019, Johannes M. was allegedly used to impair sedatives, which led to breathing. In five cases, he burned the victims' houses and once killed a patient in front of her daughter.

The relatives of the victims described patients who have decided to live despite severe pain and were based on Johannes M. to relief. A relative of a 57-year-old victim said she counted it to put her grandson in school. After a one -year break from patient contact in 2023, Johannes M. allegedly resumed in seven months in seven months in 2024.
