Steven Moya drops the CPBL All-Star game after the woman's death

Taipeh, July 19 (CNA) Tainan TSG Hawk's Slugger Steven Moya, who leads the Chinese professional baseball league (CPBL) in Taiwan in the front runs, has withdrawn from the all-Star game in 2025 after the unexpected death of his wife.

Moya's wife felt badly uncomfortable on board an aircraft that landed at Taoyuan International Airport on Friday evening. She was taken to the hospital for treatment, but died, the Hawks said in a statement on Saturday.

The franchise supports Moya in funeral arrangements and hopes that fans who look forward to seeing him in the all-star game can understand his decision to withdraw.

According to the state cost clinic, whose employees tried to save Moya's wife, she had no important signs during the flight. The aircraft's crew tried to revive it before landing.

It was brought into the emergency room at around 8:15 p.m. and the doctors used extracorporals membrane and oxygen supply in the early Saturday morning. Her death was confirmed on Saturday at 7:32 a.m., the hospital said.

In 2024, Moya's first season with the Hawks, he led the league in Homeruns (30) and RBIS (99), while he was crowned the champion of the all-star Homerun derby.

He met 19 Home Runs and drove in 47 RBIs in the current 2025 season and took first or second place in both categories.

Previously, Moya had announced his decision to withdraw from this year's home victory derby to avoid making a sausage injury difficult.

The now 33 -year -old Moya played for the Detroit Tigers in MLB between 2014 and 2016 before moving to the Japan's Nippon Professional baseball and the Mexican league. He joined the Hawks in 2024.

The CPBL All-Star game weekend takes place from Saturday to Sunday in the Taipei Dome.
