Shin Yamada: Celtic Sign Japan striker from Kawasaki Frontale


Yamada, knocked for the first time this year, said goodbye to Kawasaki fans after the Kaiser Cup Cup against SC Sagamihara on Wednesday.

After 23 games, he leaves his former club the sixth place in the J-League after scoring two goals on his 21 excursions.

The 5ft, 8 -inch striker scored 19 goals in 38 league games in the previous campaign and announced Celtictv that the Scottish champion followed their first approach at the end of 2024.

Yamada follows striker Benjamin Nygren and Callum Osmand, the defenders Hayato Inamura and Kieran Terney and goalkeeper Ross Doohan this summer to the Scottish champions.

“Celtic is one of the top names in world football,” he said. “I have already observed my compatriots Daizen [Maeda]Reo [Hatate] and Kyogo [Furuhashi] Do Celtic so well and I will have the same influence.

“However, I am my own player and I am ready to face all my own challenges directly.”
