Severe weather threatening the Milwaukee night market on July 16

The Milwaukee Night Market on Wednesday, July 16, was canceled due to the risk of a storm and planned on October 1, the organizers announced in a press release.

According to the National Weather Service, there will be a number of heavy showers and storms along a cold front between noon and 7 p.m. this afternoon, creating harmful winds and strong rainfall of 1 to 2 inches. After 7 p.m., storms will get out over Lake Michigan with some persistent showers during the rest of the evening.

“After carefully monitoring the forecast in the last 24 hours, we ultimately made the decision to terminate today's market,” said Stacie Callies, Executive Director of Westown Association. “The security of our providers, actors, participants and employees has our main priority, and unfortunately the storm prediction is challenging conditions for an event outdoors.”

The night market, a free market for outdoor with over 100 local providers and a variety of entertainment per night, was planned four times in summer: June 11, July 16, August 13 and September 10. It can be found in the city center of West Wisconsin Ave.
