Kitchen police officers closed several companies due to cockroaches, lack of hot water


Huntsville, ala. (Waff) – It was an incredibly busy week for kitchen police officers across Northern Alabama. Several companies had to temporarily close and we saw some of the wildest violations of the summer listed.

We'll start Dekalb CountyWhere Toros Cantina & Grill was closed on July 10th because of a cockroach infestation. This is according to the ADPH -Clodings Tracker. The DES Ministry of Health at DEKALB County did not score a score for Toro this week. Toro's latest inspection was on March 27th when she acquired a very respectable 94. We contacted the DEKALB County Ministry of Health to get more information. In the meantime, Toro's social media pages say that the building will go through a maintenance and will be reopened on Monday, July 21st.

Limestone County

The Panera bread on the Highway 72 in Athens was closed on July 16 due to problems with water pressure problems that did not make the toilets functional. We expect more information on this topic next week.

The GP Quick Stop in Highway 72 and the Hine Street in Athens had some significant violations this week, but still managed to examine with a score of 80. The inspectors found cockroaches in several areas, no paper towels or soap wash basins and toilets as well as food without date markings. The report also shows that there was rotting meat and several foods either shape or from the temperature in a portable cooler. The health department gave a “conviction” and all the objects involved were thrown away. We contacted our contact in the Limestone County to get more information about the conviction and we will update this story as soon as we hear back.

Madison County

The Toney Food Mart on Pulaski Pike has a 77 in the building due to several flies this week and dented doses in the pantry. The kitchen policemen note that some of these sealed doses were black/gray fuzz and ordered them.

In Hazel Green, the new China café has an 80 -year -old due to several violations of the food temperature and an employee without training food safety.

The Chevron in the Slughter Road and in the Farrow Road in Madison had to throw pizza out of the freezer because ice cream built up. They also lost points when an employee informed the inspectors that the equipment was not renovated. You have an 82.

The B mart on the governor's journey receives an 83 after they have been written for dishes that are stored in a hands -sink, and chicken wings at the wrong temperature.

Sweet Charlie in Madison had no disinfectant at a dishwashing station and milk with an expiry date on June 4th. That brought the score to 84.

The Asian cuisine of Mei Wei in the Pelham Avenue in Huntsville also has an 84. It was written for chicken at the wrong temperature, a sink that is blocked by boxes and containers and chemical bottles that were not properly stored.

Morgan County

The Midway Stop on the Highway 36 in Hartsellle is the third business that was closed this week. A routine inspection showed that there was no hot water in the facility. In addition, the kitchen police officers found mold in the ice machine, no date markings for cheese and several violations of the food temperature. In addition, some of the problems were not fixed when the inspectors came back a few days later for a follow-up visit. Midway Stop ends with a score of 74.

L'Pade on the Beltline in Decatur has a 76 this week.

The chilli on the Belt line also received a 76. There was broken coolers, which led to the fact that food opened at the wrong temperature, a dirty can, moldy ice cream, shape in an ice container and no hand -dry devices or paper towels in the toilet of women.

Huddle House in Hartsellle had Schimmel in the ice machine and several foods at false temperature. It gets a 79.

The Jacks on Highway 31 in Hartsellle had Schimmel in the ice machine and ends with an 81.

The 5th Avenue Food Mart in Decatur had dented doses, no thermometer in the kitchen and mold in the ice machine. It also gets an 81.

The marathon on Highway 20 and the Highway 67 receives an 83 due to a blocked sink and a dirty ice maker.

Breeze City in Hartsellle receives an 84 due to dirty soda nozzles, no date markings for some food and mold in the ice machine.
