The Los Angeles Lakers did not qualify for the playoffs of the Las Vegas Summer League after playing 1: 3 in their first four games. This meant that they were planned for a final exhibition game against the Denver Nuggets at the Thomas & Mack Center on Friday evening.

This was the last opportunity for players to present their skills in front of the coaching team and the front office this summer, but a number of important Lakers players did not match. This list contained Bronny James, Dalton Knecht, Trey Jemison, Darius Bazley and Arthur Kaluma.

As a result, the Lakers fought defensively for a large part of the night and suffered a loss of 106-84. In total in summer, the Lakers end with a 3-5 record between Las Vegas and the California Classic.

Cole Swider was over one of the biggest bright spots from LA all summer and that took it in this. He made his first five shots and had 14 points in the first quarter alone. He cooled down from there, but still landed with 17 points, six rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block of 6-of-15 shooting.

RJ Davis, Sir'jabari Rice and Ethan Taylor were longer by the bank and were able to present their offensive skills.

Davis had 17 points, a rebound, three templates and theft, while at the same time contributing a rebound and theft. Rice had 14 points and three own rebounds at 4-of-6 shooting.

Taylor hadn't got many opportunities in the summer league before this game, but caught fire in the second half. He landed with 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steal, while he took five of his eight 3-point attempts.

The Nuggets had a balanced evaluation effort, but were led by Curtis Jones, who was the game of the game with 22 points with five rebounds, eight templates, two steals and a block. Denver had seven players with at least eight points in victory.

What's next for the Lakers?

Fans will only see the Lakers in action again until the training camp and the previous season in October. In the meantime, the players can take the feedback they have received in the summer league, and their training sessions outside of the season in the hope of improving to a squad square.

The Lakers currently have open squad places and can issue exhibition contracts for the training camp. So it will be interesting to see who has made enough impression to get a longer look with the organization.
