Family looking for stolen flag that honored the daughter's death

Family members of a 30-year-old Powassan woman who has recently died are looking for a Canadian flag with whom they honored their death.

Diane Manella died on Monday, July 7, 2025 after her obituary was “a long fight against mental health”.

A large Canadian flag was draped on Sunday, July 13th, as part of its funeral procession on the transfer on Highway 11 in Powassan.

Manella was known for hanging a Canadian flag on the transfer and carrying a flag with your horse as a peaceful protest against the Covid 19 lockdowns.

Family members say that the flag was built in the early Sunday afternoon and disappeared around 4 p.m. and was removed from Powassan to the Trout Creek before the mourning.

Her mother, Elizabeth Shrum, says the family only wants to get the flag back.

Witnesses saw a man who drove an old red car, provided the flag, provided they were with the stable.

The Manella family asks this person to return the flag without any questions.

Anyone with information can hand in the flag in the Decal Shop in the Main Street in Powassan.
