1,300 classic cars arrive in Victoria for Northwest Deice Days

As part of the internationally known event Northwest Deice Day, which was manufactured before 1952 before 1952, around 1,300 classic cars arrived in Greater Victoria.

The Auto show takes place only every three years, and this year's event in Northwest Deice Days started on July 17th and will take place until July 20.

The organizers say that this year's event is the largest so far. The participants come from Australia, New Zealand, Sweden and Finland.

Northwest Deice Day is given the name of the classic Ford Hot Rods, which were produced in 1932 and was called the nickname “Deice” after number two in 1932.

According to Destination Greater Victoria, the last event of Northwest Deice Day in 2022 achieved an economic impact of around 2.5 million US dollars.

“Northwest Deice Days draws visitors from all over North America and beyond,” said Paul Nursey, CEO of Destination Greater Victoria, on Thursday.

“Events like this not only support local companies, but also show the broad attraction that our goal stands out on the world stage,” he said.

This weekend, the locals can count on road closures for this year's meeting, including in the early Saturday morning on the Dallas Road along the Ross Bay-a full-day, all-day window on Sunday along the inner harbor of Victoria and a award ceremony on Sunday at 3 p.m. on the lawn of the BC legislature.

“We look forward to welcoming car enthusiasts to our region and presenting hospitality that makes it special,” said nurse.

The event returns after the original organizer gave up the reins in 2021. Northwest Deice Days would end at the time after a 20-year term, if not if the goal was not taken over by Greater Victoria.

“We have been doing it since 1998 and have just got to the point where we wanted to retire,” said Al Clark, the then owner and chief organizer of Northwest Deice Day, in 2021.

According to Destination Greater Victoria, the last event in 2022 helped support 600 local jobs and was made possible by the tireless work of more than 200 volunteers.

“Start your shifts before sunrise to park and stage the vehicles for viewing and staging only one example of hospitality, Northwest Deice Days makes a popular festival for participants, locals and visitors,” said the tourism group.

A welcome ceremony for the cars is planned on Thursday for 2:15 p.m. at the Belleville Terminal.
