British Open Round 3 live updates, ranking: Scottie Scheffler breaks up the 4-shot lead after Saturday

British Open Round 3 live updates, ranking: Scottie Scheffler breaks up the 4-shot lead after Saturday

It took a while until it was started, but Scottie Scheffler broke down things at Royal Portrush on Saturday afternoon.

After Scheffler started the day with six pars in a row, he set a 4-below 67 in the third round of the British Open. This gave the highest golfer in the world a massive lead of four-layers that entered the last matchday in Northern Ireland.

Scheffler started slowly, while almost everyone else scored gate around him. But finally, thanks to an eagle in the seventh that he immediately came back with a birdie, he started. Scheffler slowly separated from the rest of the field. He even made a ridiculous par to save the back nine, which contributed to preserving the rare bogey-free round.

Matt Fitzpatrick started the day in the last group with Scheffler, but he fought to stay tuned with him. Fitzpatrick made three bogeys nine on the back and fell to 9. Haotong Li took his place in second place, but he will start four shots from Scheffler after moving his last hole. He will be the first man from China to play in the last round of a major in the last tee.

McIlroy also jumped up eight places on the ranking with his 5-below 66 player. While that brought him to 8-hundred and he has been in the last round with Tyrrell Hatton, Chris Gotterup and Harris English-there is still six shots. If he wants to run a run to win his home major, it has to happen quickly on Sunday.

Scheffler is looking for his fourth career championship victory and his first British Open victory. He is a perfect 9: 0. In the last nine times he has held the direct lead after three rounds on the PGA tour, even with his other three big victories.
