McMinn County Authorities are looking for information in 2023 unresolved death

More than two years after she was bleeding on a rural road in McMinn County, Diamond Natasha Young's death remains unsolved, and the investigators are looking for information that leads to a break in the case.

Sheriff Joe Guy said that Young, 24, could never tell the investigators what happened before she died a week after her finds on April 23, 2023.

Young was found in the 200s Block of County Road 725 by two voluntary public service units that first reached the scene, the authorities said in 2023. Barry Toomey and Chris Nunley provided help until Young was brought to a regional hospital to treat their injuries. She died on April 30, 2023.

Guy said that there was little new information in this case, and the investigators need something to explain the death of Young.

“We checked this from other agencies from a forensics team in Knoxville. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation looked at it,” said Guy, “and that's why we look at all the possibilities and receive input from other agencies to come to a kind of explanation. This is one that can only be found a kind of groybernis a little. “

Guy said Young's death was one of the open death examinations of the district “on his radar”. The other two are murders of more than two decades ago.

“There are always two cases on my radar, and that is the murder of Jack Jones from 1993 and the Patty striker murder from 2000,” said Guy in a telephone interview. “These are the cases that are really cold cases.”
