Byron Scott believes that Lakers squad needs more additions

While the player movement in the free agency has slowed down considerably, the Los Angeles Lakers are one of the teams who are still working on making only two new additions. The Lakers legend and the former coach Byron Scott have kept an eye on how the squad develops and identifies the defense of the team as something that is missing.

It looks like Las starting line -up lacks defensive resistance, with Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura and Deandre Ayton are not known for this side of the ball. LeBron James can be a productive defender, but that cannot be expected for a full season with 82 games at the age of 40.

The bank depth also remains a problem because the Lakers lacked last season's playoffs in every kind of production. Scott is on the same page on which more steps have to take if you discuss the Lakers squad about Grant Mona of Sports Illustrated:

“You still have something to do. Obviously I was bleeding purple and gold, so I want the best for this organization and franchise. I am happy about Jeanie and the bus family, which achieves the largest offer in sports history that sells the lakers for 10 billion US dollars,” said Scott.

“But LeBron and Luka, you need a little more help – Austin's [Reaves] Was great, he gets better every year. We still need a little more length, size, sportiness and a little more points from this bank, ”he continued.

Unfortunately, the teams in today's NBA can not only rely on their stars to bring them to the promised country. There must be at least eight high -quality players who can play sensible minutes in a playoff series.

Scott is dead with the Lakers who have to round off this squad. You need more sportiness and defense on the wing. Ideally, it would not hurt to bring a sensible 3-and-D-wachmann from the bank, and even another backup center.

Unfortunately, it will be difficult for the Lakers to achieve significant improvements because the Free Agent class becomes thin and they only have a tradable selection in the first round. However, the possession of drain contracts is valuable with this new CBA and General Manager Rob Pelinka has three with a positive to neutral value in Gabe Vincent, Maxi Kleber and Hachimura.

Hopefully two of these three areas that Scott has highlighted will be treated when the training camp comes over so that the Lakers can turn into a legitimal competitor status.

Byron Scott previously praised Rob Pelinka for Lakers Kader's work construction

Due to Rob Pelinka's term of office as General Manager, he had many high and low moments. It is really difficult to judge who he is as an executive, but Byron Scott asked him to win the manager of the year in 2023 after building the Lakers as a candidate.

Pelinka exchanged particularly against Luka Doncic last season and put his name back into the mix for this award.
