Nashville SC beats Toronto FC 1-0 at Sam Surridge-Tor

Nashville SC beats Toronto FC 1-0 at Sam Surridge-Tor

Sam Surridge temporarily lost his place on the MLS goal list. Then he got it back – and also put Nashville SC first place.

Nashville (14-5-5, 47 points) defeated FC (5-12-6, 21 points) on July 19 in Geodis Park 1-0, when Surridge scored his 18th season goal at a tap-in 29th minute. The Englishman is connected to Inter Miami-Star Lionel Messi in the Golden Boot Race, who came into the night behind Surridge, but scored twice in a 5-1 win against the New York Red Bulls.

With the victory, Nashville now runs the race for the supporter sign, which is awarded to the team with the best record of the regular season in MLS. NSC is bound to points with the Philadelphia Union, but has an advantage of the gates achieved from 42 to 40.

Nashville drives west to San Diego FC on July 25th.
