British and Irish lions: Gregor Brown joins the Lions squad in Melbourne

The Scottish back series Gregor Brown will be joined the British and Irish Lions squad before their last game on Tuesday against the First Nations and Pasifika XV.

The 24-year-old Glasgow Warrior can also play Lock, where he began on Friday with the victory of Gregor Townsend against Samoa in Auckland.

Brown is the 45th player who was called by the 2025 lions whose initial squad was 38-people.

Brown, who made his Scottish debut against Canada in 2024, will be related to the squad in Melbourne on Sunday with Rory Sutherland and Ewan Asman.

On Monday, the Scotland Trio Sutherland, Asman and Darcy Graham were convened as a cover, but only Graham joined the squad before the first test victory over Australia in Brisbane on Saturday.

Ireland, Tom Clarkson, Jamie Osborne and England Hooker Jamie George, recently joined the squad as a cover.

Brown will also connect to his cousin Blair Kinghorn, the full -back, who has not played since July 9, because of a knee injury.

Ireland Lock Joe McCarthy went out early in Brisbane, with the head coach of Lions, Andy Farrell, confirmed that McCarthy's withdrawal was due to plantar fasciitis – a condition that caused pain in the heel and the foot arch of the foot.

“It focused on him and hopefully we just carried out him in time,” he added.

Farrell's move to additional players reflects Warren Gatlands 'Geography Six' change in New Zealand in 2017 when half a dozen players, including Finn Russell, were parachy to play the opposition of the province and protect the testman.
