6 players who can observe on defense during training

Here are six players that they can observe for the defense for the Indianapolis Colts as a training camp.

The training camp is almost here for the Indianapolis Colts. The rookies will report on July 21, the veterans on July 22nd, and the first practice will take place on the 23rd.

There are always numerous plot lines on which you develop as a camp, many revolve around position battles. But at the moment we will pay our attention to certain players.

After we have highlighted a player in each of the offensive position groups that you can observe during the training camp of Colts, let us do the same on the defensive side of football.

Defensive end: Laiatu Latu

The recipe for Latu to make a jump from the second year certainly exists. He ended the 2024 season under the defensive ends in PFFS Pass Rush Win Rate Metric, and production will often follow. He is now also playing in a defense system under Lou Anarumo, which should benefit the defensive front with its more aggressive approach and different orientations. Against this background, you would like to see signs from Latu in the next few weeks that a big leap is on the way this season.

Defensive Tackle: Tim Smith

Smith is in a position as a choice in the sixth round to develop a role and help immediately. The playing time at Defensive Tackle behind Deforest Buckner and Grover Stewart can be won this summer, and as a running defender who has several gaps, Smith fits well to defend Anarumo and can offer help where it is needed.

Linebacker: Jaylon Carlies

Carlies is the suspected starter next to Zaire Franklin, and although he impressed and shows as a beginner and shows that he is a sound dacker and at the same time limited the Pass catcher to only 6.0 meters per reception, he is still inexperienced, with only 242 career agencies in defense. With this inexperience, strangers come. As a former college security, his reporting in Anarumo's defense will be valuable. Carlies missed the part of the offseason programs on the field and still recovered from shoulder surgery.

Cornerback: Justin Walley

Walley caught the attention of his teammates and coaches with his game while Otas and Minicamp. It brings an excellent speed to the cornerback position, is versatile and had good ball production in college. He is tailor -made for Anarumo's aggressive and disguised defense in the upper secondary level and will fight for the season towards Charvarius Ward.

Security: Rodney Thomas and Hunter more comfortable

We know that Cam Bynum and Nick Cross will certainly start, but who will secure this third place in the deep card? During the time of Anarumo in Cincinnati, he used three collateral relatively often on the field. So if you earn this point in the deep card, you could play a role defensively this season.
