The US ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee condemned the recent attacks on a Christian village and its historical church in West Bank and called them “a crime against humanity and God”. His statement was made after visiting the arson and continuing harassment.

Huckabee traveled to Taybeh, a Christian Palestinian city on Saturday, which, according to the Times of Israel, has suffered a wave of attacks by Israeli settlers in recent weeks. The attacks include a fire near the ruins of the Church of St. George, which church leaders described as the most serious incidents so far.

Huckabee, a long -time Protestant supporter of Israel, said during his visit that the desecration of religious sites was “an act of terror” and that such actions should have “hard consequences”.

He later posted X on this day and said that he met with the residents in Taybeh to listen and learn “, and that every attack on a house of worship, whether a church, a mosque or a synagogue, was not just against humans, but against God.

In comments that were published as part of a formal explanation of the US message, Huckabee said: “To commit an act of sacrilege by escaping a place that is supposed to be a place of worship, it is an act of terror, and there is a crime. There should be consequences, and there should be rough consequences because it is one of the last tinkering of our civilization that we worship.”

He added that such a violence was “against the saint” and insisted that those responsible “were found and persecuted under criminal law” were not only criticized. Huckabee spoke to the predominantly Christian residents of the village and said that they deserved “respect” and the right to “live their life in peace”.

The attacks in Taybeh are part of what local church leaders describe as a model of escalating settler power, including harassment and property damage. Church officials who visited the city at the beginning of this week stated that the Israeli authorities uncontrolled intimidation.

Huckabee said that he represented “all American citizens” who live in Israel, including Christians, Muslims and Jews and added that he would blame him “responsible” if any “terrorized or victims of crimes”.

Last week, Siedler supposedly beats two Palestinians near Sinjil, including Saif Musalet, a Palestinian American. Israeli officials have not given a public statement on the murders, and the government has not yet convicted the Taybeh.

Regardless of this, the US government has concerned Israel about delays in the granting of Visa for Protestant Christian tourists. Huckabee had recently warned that the failure to spend these visas could publicly question it whether Christian groups in Israel are still welcome.

In the meantime, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made an explanation on Thursday, in which he regretted regret for an Israeli tank, in which three civilians were killed in the only Catholic Church of Gazas. The apology followed a call from President Trump, who reported reported an explanation for the attack.
