Council 2025 takes place from July 18 to 20

Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to see flight shows at this year's Royal International Air Tattoo (Riat).

The event in RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire has been driving for more than 50 years and is visited by around 170,000 people.

It includes air shows, aircraft displays and family events over a period of three days.

To help, here is everything you need to know to make the best of the event.

When is Riat this year?

Riat will take place from July 18 to 20 in 2025.

The event begins on Friday at 7:30 a.m. The events run all weekend until 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Do I need tickets?

Yes. The tickets for Friday and Saturday are already sold out, but add-ons for these days are still available.

Tickets for events on Sunday can still be won.

How do I get to Riat?

At the event, around 170,000 people come to the showground. The preparation of travel in advance makes life easier.

The fastest way to get to the show is via the Swindon Shuttle Bus or the Cheltenham Park and Ride.

You can also organize the trip approval via the website of the event.

What events take place?

The day starts at 11:00 a.m. on Friday with a first flight display. The aircraft on display will arrive at 3:00 p.m. and the showground ends at 6:00 p.m.

The first flight display begins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with the last display ending at 5:30 p.m. The showground ends at 7:30 p.m.

People can visit different aircraft and speak between flight ads with pilots and engineers on site.

What should I bring?

The show organizers advise people to “easily pack” to shorten the waiting times when the safety of security is checked at entry points.

A water bottle, sunscreen and hat, when it is hot, are important to bring with you.

The organizers said: “Under no circumstances should dangerous objects such as knives or drones be brought to RAF Fairford.”
