Bryson Dechambeau offers a solution for the game pace of “Out of control”

Bryson Dechambeau offers a solution for the game pace of “Out of control”

Portrush, Northern Ireland – Towards the end of his third round on Saturday morning, Bryson Dechambeau did not hide his feelings. The man was really frustrated.

Partly because he had crossed nine in 33 strokes and faded on his back, but above all because he and his group were now voted on by civil servants. And Dechameau does not agree how Golf's leading committees enforce the game pace.

Once again, the pace of the game has set up over a large championship, with many of the rounds to secure (and even exceed some) on Thursday. The reasons are numerous – the routing of the course, the types of holes, the speed of the greens, the length of the rough – and we have already heard them. How about the missions of the game? There are Ryder Cup implications, effects on Fedex Cup and effects on the career heritage.

Pace has become one of the most discussed topics in Pro Golf. The PGA tour limits the number of players on the field in the next spring at tournaments, as it often does not have enough daylight to bring everyone through the course in good time. But how much it is discussed is rarely encountered real solutions.

Enter Dechameau.

How this open championship could shake the Ryder Cup

After this third round, in which he shot 68, Dechambeau not only explained why it was frustrating to rely on the clock, but also offered a simple solution that he would like to implement. At first, Dechambeau believed that he had played in the trouble at the age of 16, the long Par-3 Calamity Corner. He made a par while the group played the short, mobile Par-4 17th in a collective.

“He said we only lost time,” said Decimbeau. “Unfortunately, on the 16/17 exchange you have a downhill, mobile hole that you can play pretty quickly when you get it in the right place. You did it and we only lost time to the group.

He made it pretty well and ended with a few pars, but brought his gathering cap into the interview area.

As a player who, according to paths, to change the game, I started Or tries to venture into new worlds of the game, just never seems to be anything that is found out. Is it one of these things?

“It's very easy,” said Decimbeau. “It is not difficult at all. You are time for your entire round. It is very easy. Nobody wants to do it. Because people are too scared to be exposed. What, I am an advocate. I would like to be tuned in time and I have no problem with it.

Dechambeau quoted Dustin Johnson, who seems to be “incredibly fast” in full shots as “incredibly quick”, but “really slow”. Everyone is different, but a lot of professional golf is played. Mostly on the greens, usually quickly elsewhere. But not for everyone. In most cases, the pace of the game is based on a group that falls behind the group in front of them. If this is the case, the group will be monitored, and if a player takes too long to play a shot – usually 40 seconds, when it is your turn – they will then be set “on the clock”. Further violations of this pace can lead to a punishment, which is incredibly unusual.

Dechameau only wants the timing from the first T-shirt ball to the end of the last putt.

What would we find out in this new system I asked.

“I think it would be fairer to everyone,” replied Dechambeau. “You know if someone plays more slowly [official] can go to them and say: »Hey man, You are Above average with their time. 'Everything you do is that you only have time for every shot – he comes there, puts the bag off and how long it takes to hit this shot. And how long it takes for you to go to the green. It is not rocket science. She time how long someone takes individually and then separate it from the other person. You start the whole thing. “

Dechameau seems to believe that given the fact of how many marshals and civil servants go with groups during the greatest events in sports, there would be no problem that adds a stopwatch to the campaign.

“You know it's a way. I'm not saying that it is the answer,” he said. “I'm definitely not someone who has most of the knowledge or the greatest experience.
