Curtis Sliwa has a way to become the next mayor of NYC

It is difficult for a large part of the New York business world to take Curtis Sliwa seriously.

He seems to sleep in his trademark Red Guardian Angels Baser.

His highly locumen scolds in a strongly accented outer borough brogue can distract.

The biggest sources of campaign money hardly know that he was for the mayor as Eric Adams, former governor Andrew Cuomo and even the Marxist Zohran Mamdani, who risen the race with the winning of the democratic primary school.

But the last time I checked that most Big Apple voters are not fat cats.

Sliwa, Red Beret and All, lies in one fell swoop from the leader Mamdani and Cuomo with 22%and, according to a recently carried out Harris survey, strikes Adams in a four-man race.

“You always say, follow the numbers. In a four-way race I have a way to win because people actually like me and have problems with the others,” Sliwa told me in an interview.

It is enough to say that it was an uneven trajectory for Sliwa's current role as a GOP mayor candidate in a very democratic city.

I treated the promotion of SLIWA since I and his crime troops, the above Guardian Angels, followed the reporter of the Pace University War and his crime troops in the mid -1980s.

We have mutual friends and broke bread at dinner.

And yes, he wore his basket during our meals.

Always the showman, he once created his own kidnapping to make the advertising.

He was kidnapped and shot once three times, supposedly as a repayment because he repeatedly attacks the mob for drug trafficking.

The shootout almost increased Sliwa's life, but it didn't slow him down.

He stuck on TV again and again, as a radio show host and with the angels.

He remained relevant because the violent crime returned to the city during the Bill de Blasio and then ran against the Sliwa with a big lead and lost to him.

Money deficit

He is back and has a shot, according to the latest surveys.

While Sliwa collects money in the collection of money (after she had only invited $ 169,000, compared to $ 1.5 million for Adams in the last report), his style of the personal campaign, not in the Hamptons such as Cuomo, but on U-Bahn and around five districts, seems to work.

In other words, he deserves the attention of the business world.

He says that he did not spend himself at Kathy Wylde from the NYC Partnership, the city's largest group that met with every candidate except Sliwa – even last week.

Sliwa tells me that the city's power brokers make a big mistake that sniffs him because he is the only true business candidate.

(Wylde says that in contrast to the others, Sliwa has not yet asked for a meeting.)

He plans to return to a real business mecca through improved crime prevention and by reducing overload prices that reduce retail traffic in retail and violate real estate values.

He will reduce taxes and eliminate government swaths, such as the city's educational bureaucracy, which does a terrible job to educate children and do a good job when it uses a lot of bureaucrats.

“Big Business insures his bets and moves to Florida, Texas, even Tennessee,” said Sliwa.

“It is impossible to stop them from diversifying them, but they have to convince them to keep them what they have by getting rid of the homeless people and ensure that women are safe from work in the U -Bahn at work.”

Born in Brooklyn

Sliwa is a real New Yorker, a born in Brookly, who, in contrast to Adams or Cuomo, the son of the former governor Mario Cuomo, has never lived outside the city.

It comes from a family of the working class in Canarsie, which differs far from the privileged education of the Mamdani with silver spoons.

Sliwas Pro-Business policy is why he insists that the fat cats in Wyldes group “treat with a fashionable respect”.

One way to do this is to tackle the increasing crime and to keep Adams' very capable police commissioner Jessica table in her job, he says.

“She is a saint in a boiler of corruption,” said Sliwa, referring to the scandals that devour the Adams administration.

“Zohran would never exist if Adams had been a half mayor, and I am the only person who stands in the way of a full socialist takeover of New York.”

According to Sliwa, Cuomo is just as bad after he has lost poorly against Mamdani in the democratic area code due to his own skeletons, said the Republican candidate.

“Cuomo's approvals are as bad as Adams. They don't like people. But they like me,” he said.

Mandami may be superficial, but according to Sliwa, he will be “destroying a sea of socialism and destroying the city”.

Above all, Sliwa wanted to make it clear that he did not break, although reports that he could get a job in the Trump administration to narrow down the field and prevent Mamdani's mayor.

“Nobody will bribe me to leave the race,” he said.

In fact, he is so committed that he has undertaken to remove his trademark for the selected brand.

“We realize that the basket cap is a recurring question,” he said.

“If I am elected mayor, I will withdraw it.”
