Man arrested because he put girls to death

The Kodagu police arrested a 42-year-old man because he put a girl to death and tried to kill another girl.

The superintendent of the police K. Ramarajan said in a statement that a special investigation team moved in on Saturday the accused Panjariyaravara Ravi (42) in Devarapura in Thithimathi.

The investigation started after the emergency helpline received 112 information about a 5-year-old girl with injuries to body and hands and was alone near Biligene in Kodagu on July 11th.

The police saved the girl on site and gave first aid in the Madiker District Hospital before entering Madilu, a government center in Madikeri. The girl had scars, forehead, cheeks, legs and hands and injuries.

When the girl asked the police, she informed the police that her father Ravi caused burns in her body, beat her with a stick and threatened to kill her. She said he pushed her into a water stream from which she managed to escape and reach the roadside.

Ravi is the second husband of Bhagya, the victim's mother. The police followed Bhagya on July 14th and united her with her daughter. On the basis of a complaint by Bhagya, the Madikeri Rural Police registered a case against RAVI in accordance with various provisions of the BNS Act 2023 and § 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act.

The police also registered a murder against Ravi because he was supposed to go to death from her first husband, Bhagya's daughter. The incident occurred about a month ago in the village of Merelli within the borders of the Kutta police station.

The special examination team arrested Ravi on Saturday.
